Note even though there may be one item mentioned, in fact there could be several, such as wheelchair ramps for Bowling clubs. Our listing shows this as one item. These community projects are in addition to members personal projects. The community projects included the following :- Wheel chair ramps for bowling clubs. Picnic table adjacent to the new BMX track. Trays, carpentry table, two outside tables as well as book shelves for a pre school. Three garden benches Repairing three garden seats Two coffins Two shipping crates for export of X-ray machine. Four picnic tables to one school. Bowling club shelters Chocolate wheel for Fire brigade Honours board for Sports Centre School lunch box shelves. Repair two dining chairs. Projects As at 15 February 2014, we are looking at extending our community involvement by mentoring “at risk” secondary school pupils at the shed and also taking on a disabled lad accompanied by his carer from C.C.S. We are also looking at holding informal classes for females who would like to learn wood working craft in a controlled environment. The preceding are apart from the normal community projects that we have already. |

Two projects are shown in this photo:
1. The large cross for the R.S.A. was completed by John Forster in the workshop at the Kaiapoi High School.
2. A large number of individual crosses were produced by several members with Bob Beets managing this project. Each of the 28 crosses in the photo have the name and rank of Kaiapoi men who fell during WW1.
The picket fence was also a project carried out by the Menz Shed of Kaiapoi for the remembrance plot.

Boxing put in by Kevin Burney assisted by Frank Overend, May 2014. This boxing will form the base for the Tic Tac Toe game to be erected next to the ANZ Bank in the town centre.

The team has successfuly completed the extension to our Shed to house the extracter system for the machines and also house the lathe. The Lion Foundation Grant came to the party and assisted with the financing of this extension. To support Lion Foundation further, we encourage everyone to visit the fab restaurant next to McDonalds in Kaiapoi.

Ladies Night - November 2015
Four young ladies from the Community Gardens spent two hours learning the machines, then making 24 mini-crates for their Xmas jars of jam and pickles. It was an excellent night and enjoyed by all. The ladies are keen to return for another session. Oh by the way, they brought along a fab supper. The small crates can be seen on the machines in the pics. UPDATE: Ladies night repeated itself again 29 Sept and Oct 6 2016 tand made more jam and pickle boxes.
